The story of why we love The Predictive Index, and why you might, too!
How it all began…
In 2020, Lisa Cooper, led the HR function for a locally-owned business with a few hundred employees. They were focused on building and stabilizing their workforce in a post-pandemic world with a brand new leadership team. Employing tools from #EOS, they had redesigned their organizational structure and were trying to adapt to a new core focus and strategy. Her hands were full, and so were those of her fellow leaders. She needed better tools to help build and align teams. And fast!
After Claire Larabel and Lisa researched and demoed a host of different talent selection and development tools. Some were slick but many, like DiSC, couldn’t and shouldn’t be used in the hiring process. Their assessments helped them to understand skills, but was not great at building effective teams.
And then they learned about The Predictive Index.
Why we loved PI:
The Predictive Index measures four behavioral drives (Dominance, Extraversion, Patience, and Formality) as well as cognitive ability, and matches results to jobs.
- This talent assessment is rooted in science. It’s been validated by over 400 studies over the last 6 decades. Two million companies per year use this tool to accurately predict workplace behavior.
- In the hiring process, we can use it to compare candidates to jobs and ensure we’ve got right people in the right seats. And the more fair and objective data points we added, the more opportunity we are providing for a more level playing field, an important element of our diversity strategy.
- It only takes 6 minutes but the results are really rich with information and insights about how someone is naturally wired and how someone will show up on the job.
- The coaching guides are fantastic. Lisa notes she has learned how to become a better coach and leader to her team by customizing her communication approach.
- It created a common language for teams. With 17 reference profiles (or zip codes).
How it’s going…
Because we loved PI so much, we knew that it was one thing we wanted to bring to our clients when we started Cooper People Group. Having recently become a Certified PI Partner, our clients love using the behavioral assessment for talent selection and development, and our workshops for optimizing team performance and strengthening team dynamics. If you want a tool that can enable people to do their best work to create important outcomes for themselves, their teams, their customers and the business, let’s talk about how PI can help!
